Over the past five years the company and myself have had the pleasure of working with Francis on many prestigious occasions, within Australia and overseas, and he is highly regarded for his level of professionalism.
He has an understanding of the needs of his clients and audience and is extremely flexible in this area, and is comfortable performing in THE GREAT HALL at Parliament House as in a school hall.

I have witnessed and experienced the feelings of exhilaration and reconciliation that Francis' performances inspire. The magic that Francis conjures with his stories disguises the fact that the stories serve as a teaching vehicle to counter racism, prejudice and greed, and promote equality, friendship, honesty and respect for the environment. His stories reflect the values and aspirations of Australia's indigenous people.

Minister for Aboriginal Affairs

Using his unique style of presentation, his tales of wisdom, love and peace reached out to many
delighted people of all ages and complemented the various cultural contributions included within
the festival programme.

Francis Firebrace worked as a visiting artist and storyteller in 14 Tees Valley Creative Partnerships Schools throughout May - June 2003. He pitched his delivery accordingly to suit pupils from reception through to Year 9 students. The workshops were dynamic, and authentic and he had the children captivated by stories, dance and descriptions of Aboriginal ceremonies and beliefs.

The feedback from the schools has all been very positive and several of the secondary schools used his visit to stimulate GCSE coursework, which includes the study of Aboriginal artwork. Here are a few of the comments from teacher feedback forms.

‘A colourful mix of folk tales, information and art,’

A brilliant day which we will be remembered by all for some time to come.

'The sheer enthusiasm of Francis Firebrace spilled over into his audiences, staff and pupils and made it a fantastic day for everyone.’

‘The pupils learned respect for a very different culture and an understanding of traditional people and their beliefs. Also respect for themselves and others.’
